5km x 50 Challenge

For a number of years I have been a Certified Member of the Master Photographers Association (MPA), which is one of the top professional bodies in the UK. The MPA help and support photographers from around the world to improve their photography skills via mentoring, qualifications, business support and a variety of training programmes. The photography industry has been one of the worst hit by the Lockdown(s), so the MPA have been supporting photographers by putting on educational webinars, virtual meet ups, and homework projects to keep our skills up to scratch and learning new techniques.

The latest project is to challenge our fitness and help with Mental Health and also help the environment. So, to get away from our computer screens, I have joined over 50 other photographers from across the UK to take part in #mpa5by50. We need to complete a 5km walk, run or cycle, everyday for 50 days, and at the end of the challenge the MPA will plant 25 trees for every photographer that took part. We have been tasked with taking photographs whilst on our daily challenges and these can all be found on Instagram by searching for the hashtag #mpa5by50.
